Nate Manis

Candidate for National Policy Chair

Back

Nate Manis is a devoted Young Liberal, passionate about tackling the issues facing young Canadians. Originally from Eglinton—Lawrence, Nate first joined the Liberal Party at the age of 15, supporting his MP’s re-election campaigns in 2019 and 2021. He quickly developed a love for politics; from knocking doors, to policy discussions, community advocacy, and getting to learn more about Canadians and their priorities.

When Nate moved to Montreal to begin his studies at McGill, he immediately joined Liberal McGill as a Director, assisting with the YLC’s policy development process on campus. He’s served on the club’s executive for the past few years, as a Vice President for both Policy and Operations. Off campus, Nate has supported multiple Liberal MPs by knocking doors, leading field efforts, and working in his local constituency office.

Nate is a policy wonk, passionate about delivering a more affordable, safe, tolerant, and prosperous future in Canada. He’s an outspoken housing advocate, having done policy work for a prominent housing provider specializing in the delivery of affordable, sustainable, modular missing middle housing in Toronto. This experience exposed Nate firsthand to the impact of Liberal programs like the Housing Accelerator Fund and Build Canada Homes - while underscoring the need to go further and deliver more.

Nate is a firm believer that the YLC needs to be more outspoken in pushing for young Canadians’ policy priorities. Youth are struggling with a brutal housing crisis, high unemployment, worsening climate disaster, high prices, and a rise in hate. Young Canadians are anxious and pessimistic about their futures in Canada.

Liberal governments have taken many important steps, but the issues we face demand that we meet the moment with more ambition, innovation, and new ideas. Nate is running for National Policy Chair of the YLC to empower Young Liberals to have a tangible impact on the direction of our country.
