Richelle Furtado is a young Liberal from Brampton, who has been active since joining the party in 2021 through her MP, Ruby Sahota. Richelle is a dedicated organizer and policy thinker, with a passion for building strong communities and ensuring young people have a real voice in politics.

With a strong background in policy, Richelle has experience proposing legislation within her local Peel municipality. Richelle also holds the title as winner of several policy case competitions, including Policython at the University of Toronto. She has also developed her skills at the Ontario Liberal Party (OLP), where she worked as an intern, helping organize major events such as Provincial Council and the 2025 OLP AGM. Continuing on as a staff member at OLP, she has helped revitalize several riding associations and campus clubs in the Greater Toronto Region.On the campaign trail, Richelle has proven herself to be a strong organizer who knows how to mobilize volunteers. She has worked various roles on multiple campaigns including for Chrystia Freeland, Julie Dabrusin, and most recently served as a Deputy Campaign Manager in the 2025 Ontario provincial election.

At the University of Toronto, where she studies Political Science, Philosophy, and Data Science, Richelle serves as President of the UofT Young Liberals, one of the largest campus clubs in the country. In this role, she has rapidly supported membership growth, helped young Liberals connect to their ridings throughout the GTA, and led a dynamic communications strategy that has produced engaging, viral content.

Richelle is running to serve as National Membership Chair of the Young Liberals of Canada as part of YLC Renaissance. She is excited by the momentum following the 2025 election, and believes this is a generational opportunity to re-engage youth in the party to spark change. Richelle’s vision is to ensure every Young Liberal across the country has the opportunity to be heard, represented, and involved; building a stronger, more connected national movement.
